Taxinet number

Postby Howard » Mon Apr 27, 2020 10:30 am

I need to get my prescription renewed soon. Previously I got them from Vamos Health Centre which, I believe, is closed for prescriptions. I keep seeing advice about doing it online saying I need a taxinet number. Is this the same as what has previously been described as my "tax number" (AFM) or is it something extra needed for online? If so, how do I get one please. i am a pensioner (S1) and I have my AMKA book. Thanks.

Your accountant should have your Taxisnet log on details, Howard - ie the username and password that you need to access Taxisnet services.

No it is not the AFM. If you use an accountant to do your annual tax return your accountant should be able to provide them for you. You will need your TaxisNet ID and your TaxisNet password. As part of the process you will also need your AMKA number.

I'm afraid the whole process is in Greek and trying to use an English translation, e.g. with the Chrome browser, probably won't work. I described the full process in this thread about 5 posts down the page. It looks complicated but it is fairly straightforward if you just follow the instructions step by step. You will need your mobile phone and email accessible as you go through the process since they will send you a verification email and a verification SMS, each with a one time use code, that will need to entered into a box on a pop-up form.

I got my first prescriptions through the service last week and it worked fine. Good luck.

Thanks both. I don't have an accountant, any other way I can get hold of those login details?

How do you do your annual tax return? Does a lawyer do it for you? IF so he would be able to supply you. If you are registered with the tax authority and have an AFM you are supposed to do an E1 tax return each year even if it is a null return? There is nothing to stop you doing it yourself, provided your Greek is good enough and you understand the Greek tax system, but it has to be done online so you would already have a TaxisNet ID and password to do that.

You can certainly go to the tax office where you are registered and request a TaxisNet ID and password but I would be somewhat reticent to suggest doing that if you haven't been doing an annual E1 tax return. You might find yourself liable for a hefty fine? You would probably need to fill in some forms so it might be worth having a Greek speaker with you unless your Greek is good.
